浑林铁路按速度分为两种,分别为普速铁路与高速铁路。其中普速铁路上的设站包括四等站(除一二三特等外的所有车站)、三等站(区县县级市重要车站)、二等站(地级市重要车站)、一等站(省会重要车站)与特等站(国家重要车站);高速铁路上的设站包括三等站、二等站、一等站与特等站。 普速铁路可分为普速客运专线、普速客货混用铁路与普速货运专线,最高运营速度按具体情况分为120km/h,140km/h,160km/h,180km/h与200km/h。 高速铁路最高运营速度按具体情况分为250km/h,310km/h,350km/h与380km/h。
